How a Las Vegas Businessman – a former Brooklynite and Marine –
Survived Corruption and Cancer to Achieve the American Dream
A True LIfe Story by Ron Coury
Ron Coury is a name that’s well-known to longtime residents and members of the business community in Southern Nevada.
A former U.S. Marine, Ron has seen and done it all in his 45 years in Las Vegas. He has been a casino dealer, real estate agent, and partner in bars, restaurants, major graphics and glass companies, and several automobile dealerships in Nevada and California. He currently serves as a board director for a number of for-profit companies and charitable organizations.
On his uphill struggle toward success, Ron faced more than his fair share of challenges involving political and law-enforcement corruption, solicitations of bribery, death threats, accusations of kidnapping, assault, and coercion, the prospect of up to 50 years imprisonment, and more than one opportunity to have matters settled discreetly—with a few well-placed bullets.
Tenacity is the story of the evolution of a natural-born entrepreneur and “niche finder” and an account of how Ron successfully faced and overcame each and every challenge. From growing up on the streets of Brooklyn in the ’60s and early ’70s to surviving the good-old-boy and wild-west business and political climate of old-school Las Vegas, this book is a testament to how his courage and perseverance enabled him to prevail against unethical, illegal, and seemingly insurmountable obstacles along the path toward achieving his goals and dreams.
On a personal note, Ron has three children and five grandchildren.
